Tabaku submits amendment to Parliament: Zero tax for freelance professions

TIRANA, March  29 /ATA/ – By  I. Vata/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, has submitted to parliament the draft for a change in the draft law “On income tax.”

In a post on social media, Tabaku states that “today I submitted to the Parliament an amendment regarding the draft law on income tax that provides for 23% tax on freelancers and small businesses.”

“Thus, the government plans to take 20 million euros from almost 17,000 free professionals by discriminating against the self-employed, eroding equality and offering inequality, undervaluing work, trampling on labor and investment, and violating accounting standards quite a few times. Albania needs a tax system where the individual is at the center. The socialist tax is eroding even more the income of the middle class,” she writes.

Tabaku adds that the amendment aims to exempt from the profit tax all small businesses and freelancers, protecting them from a discriminatory and regressive fiscal and tax policy.
