Rama: “Open Balkan” accelerated Berlin Process

TIRANA, February 27/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today from Podgorica that the “Open Balkan” is an initiative to materialize the Berlin Process and abide by its principles and objectives.

“Don’t look for any secret hand in the ‘Open Balkans’ initiative, none. Don’t see behind the ‘Open Balkan’ neither Chinese, nor Russians, nor Martians, don’t even see Germans”, said Rama in the joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazovic.

The prime minister mentioned the Berlin Summit as an example, where, according to him, there were signed the same agreements as before.

“We value the Berlin Process very much. Without this process, the “Open Balkan” would not have been born. Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia signed the things they had signed before. I didn’t see any agreement there that we hadn’t signed before. I do not know of any ‘Open Balkan’ agreement that is not in the framework of the Berlin Process. Ask yourself just one question: Why has no agreement been implemented until the start of the ‘Open Balkan’ and why was the process accelerated?”, said Rama, while adding that this is what the ‘Open Balkan’ is for.

On his part, Abazovic said that the “Open Balkan” has materialized the Berlin Process.

“You know my personal stance regarding the ‘Open Balkan’. I am for the initiative: it has implemented the Berlin Process. Every regional cooperation agreement actually contributes to peace and stability, and you don’t have any headache. We have a headache if we don’t have communication; we see each other as enemies, then we will have problems”, he said./r.e/p.s./
