Hohmann: Albania can learn from EU’s peace project

TIRANA, Feb  21  /ATA/ The Ambassador of the European Union in Tirana, Christiane Hohmann, participated in the opening of the “Memory Days 2023” panel, hosted by the Institute for Democracy, Media and Culture and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

“We reflected together on the different experiences of Albania and other former-communist countries in dealing with the past,” she emphasized.

“Albania can take note from other countries’ experiences in building a shared truth of their communist past and addressing the crimes of the communist regime,” Hohmann said.

“Truth, justice and reconciliation are essential to building a common European future based on strong values. “

“On its path toward joining our European community, Albania can also learn from the EU’s peace project, built on dialogue, Rule of Law and democracy. “
