TIRANA, Feb 16 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, speaking about the circumstances in which he got acquainted with the former FBI official Charles McGonigal, said that, “I have met him as all the officials from all countries that have come over to my office.”
In a televised interview, Rama clarified that, “the US embassy represents the State Department, the FBI is a completely different thing, the CIA is completely different from the FBI and the State Department. It is the choice of each of them, it is not at all my choice or my duty to go through the embassy.”
Asked if McGonigal requested the meeting, Rama said that “he requested it personally.”
Rama also stated that he met Agron Neza for the first time the same day he met the former FBI official, Charles McGonigal. He emphasized that he has never had a one on one meeting with Neza.
“McGonigal introduced him, saying this is my friend and associate. Neza was also present in other meetings where McGonigal was present,” Rama emphasized.
Rama clarified that “the accusation says that the former official did not report the trips and borrowed money. No information has been requested about me, nothing from me, nothing from the government. In the end, I repeat it, look at the conclusion of the indictment, there is neither corruption, nor buying, nor selling, this man has not reported some trips he has made and he has borrowed money in a conflict of interest with the other. All the rest is Albanian self-judgment.”
Prime Minister Rama said that “all I can say is that this vortex will have two results, my words come true because I know how to read, to look 3 steps further.”
