Balluku: Elbasani’s incinerator is up and running

TIRANA, Feb  8 /ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, stated on Wednesday that Elbasani’s incinerator is in service.

At a media briefing after the government meeting, Balluku said that, after three years of operation, this incinerator is under repair.

“The government has made waste treatment a priority. This was also the inception project with regard to incinerators. The cases of Fier and Elbasan are different. Elbasani’s incinerator is in service and has produced energy. OSHEE even paid to buy the energy it produces. But after 3 years in operation it needs to undergo repair. To the best of my knowledge, it is in the process of pump replacement,” said Balluku.

As far as Fier’s incinerator is concerned, Balluku pointed out that this incinerator was taken over by the Sequestration Agency and due to the procedure it was not in service.

“At the time of seizure, the works were not completed and to the best of my knowledge, the administrator of the seizure is moving ahead with the process for the construction of this incinerator”, said Balluku.
