PM Rama: Albania’s wines attract attention of Decanter magazine, Albania with potential for quality winemaking

TIRANA, Jan 28 /ATA/ – Albania’s wines and top producers have recently attracted the attention of the prestigious British magazine Decanter, saying the country is still at an infancy stage of modern-day wine development, but a diamond in the rough virtually unknown to most of the wine world.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Saturday the magazine’s latest article on Albania’s top producers and wines, underlining that the country has incredible potential for quality winemaking.

“Albanian wines attract attention of the leading British magazine Decanter for the first time ever. The magazine highly praises and highlights some of the best wineries and wine brands in  the country, saying Albania has an incredible potential for quality wine and this way confirming success of our support policies for this authentic product of the country’s agricultural culture,” PM Rama said via the social media.

The magazine notes that Albania’s viticultural history dates back to at least the 8th century BC, when ancient Illyrians inhabited the Balkan Peninsula; yet, now, nearly 3,000 years later, Albania is at an infancy stage of modern-day wine development, a diamond in the rough virtually unknown to most of the wine world.
