TIRANA, Jan 24 /ATA/ From the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, actors Allison Williams and Riz Ahmed have announced the nominees for the 2023 Oscars.

In addition to internationally known filmmakers, what is of interest to the Albanian public is the fact that, in one of the categories, a film which a few months ago was a competitor at the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) is listed as a possible winner of the Oscar.
It was precisely TIFF, which proposed the film “The Red Suitcase”, which competes in the “Best Live Action Short Film” category.

This is the first time that a TIFF proposal has made it to the final stage of Oscar nominations.

The film “The Red Suitcase”, by Cyrus Neshvad, was proposed only by the Tirana festival (TIFF) and was selected among 94 proposals from the best festivals in the world, which, like TIFF, have the attribute of “Oscar Qualifying.”
Other contenders for the Oscar for Best Short Film are: An Irish Goodbye, Ivalu, Le pupille and Night Ride.
