Bad weather conditions, Peleshi: Far from critical point for flooding

TIRANA, Jan  18  /ATA/ Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, in a media briefing, said that, “the severe weather conditions with heavy showers have posed some problems, while the situation is under control and far from worrying levels.”

Peleshi said that, “in the region of Shkodra, there were some problems in the road infrastructure due to landslides and inert materials. There were power cuts in some areas, while all OSHEE groups are on the ground to repair the defects in the energy grid.”

The minister informed that, “the water level in the Osum river does not present problems, but there is an increase in the water level in Çorovodë and Berat, the Devoll river is not at risk of bursting the banks, the level of the Drin river in Shkodra has increased 25 cm, yet it is far from the critical point. The level of the lake in Shkodra is 7.55 meters against 8.7 meters, which is the maximum quota in this lake.”

Peleshi pointed out that we forecast the highest peak of rainfall on January 21, so he appealed to the municipalities to strengthen the measures for any problematic case.

“Municipalities must warn the population in time for any evacuation case, monitor the embankments, pumping stations and 600 water catchments,” Peleshi said.
