Veliaj: Another pedestrian area added to Tirana

TIRANA, January 5 /ATA/ In the municipal unit No 10 in Tirana, there is added a new pedestrian street, relaxing and recreational space for the community.

Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, together with the Lawmaker of the Socialist Party Fatmir Xhafaj were there today to see this new investment, which adds value to the entire area.

Veliaj said that this space is today a success story, just like the New Market Place or the Castle of Tirana.

The mayor said that this area itself proves that Tirana is experiencing a real ‘boom’.

“Tirana is experiencing a real boom. I am glad that we give it dignity not only with this investment, but also with the way the streets are named”, said Veliaj.

Veliaj has also responded to the debate regarding the names of streets in the capital.

“In my opinion, it is a proto-fascist debate. They say they want to remove the name of Mihal Duri, Asim Vokshi and Avni Rustemi – it is really proto-fascist. Mihal Duri and Qemal Stafa and many of those young people, who at an age, perhaps much younger than most of us here, gave their lives for a free and independent Albania,” said Veliaj.

In 2023, added the mayor, we must think about how many other roads we shall make with this quality and how many such economic zones we will create in Tirana, not look back for names and wonders that only produce hysteria, but do not any produce well-being. /j.p/p.s./
