TIRANA, Dec 19 /ATA/ The Bank of Albania announces that, during the year 2022, the activity of the banking sector marked a prudential increase in all indicators, with over 6% increase in total assets and similar levels of growth for the main items.
According to BoA, this increase has been massively supported by the funds of individual depositors, who preferred the currency as the primary instrument of their savings.
While the abundant supply of currency was reflected in the financing of the loan portfolio, as well as in the increase of investments in foreign currency securities.
The capitalization level of the banking system continued to increase this year, from 18.53% to 19.26%, reflecting the increase in regulatory requirements for macroprudential reserves and reserves for extraordinary intervention (MREL). Both of these elements have increased the stability and security of the banking system.
The expectations of the Central Bank, for the medium term, are for the improvement of financial conditions and the easing of lending standards as an important incentive for private investments in the medium term.
