TIRANA, December 2 /ATA/ Today, in Tirana there was presented the eTransport platform which will provide detailed information on inter-city public transport for all local and foreign tourists who want to travel around Albania.
Through this platform, there will be done at the same time the promotion of tourist Albania.
This platform was built thanks to collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the General Directorate of Road Transport Service.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro stated today that information on public transport is not simply a service for the 2.8 million local residents.
“While the number of visitors increases, there was a lack of information about public transport. Tourists were not offered information on how to move from one city to another, as not everyone comes by car, or can rent a car,” she said.
Kumbaro emphasized that by the end of September, the number of foreign tourists who visited the country was estimated at 6.5 million, while in October this number increased by 31%, compared to October 2021.
Another feature, the minister said, was the age of the tourists who visited Tirana, which, according to her, has experienced a “boom” in the number of tourists.
“This year, the largest age group that visited Tirana were young people between 20-35 years old. This indicates increased desire to move. By the end of the year, we expect that the number of foreign visitors who visited Albania will be 3 times higher than the number of local residents”, she said.
The minister also spoke about another action taken by the government in terms of improving the service to tourists, which is the cleaning of the territory. According to her, 126,000 tons of waste was cleaned in the non-urban areas./p.s./
