TIRANA, Oct 25 /ATA/ The 2023 draft budget guarantees the steady increase of the social shield for the needy strata, with a focus on children, mothers with more than 2 children, the elderly and families.
The budget for social protection programs increases by 5% more as compared to the revised budget this year, guaranteeing the support of over 64 thousand families, part of the economic assistance program, the steady support of the social shield due to twofold increase of economic assistance for mothers with 2 children, after the support of those with 3 or more children, the twofold increase of economic assistance for the elderly over 65 without retirement pension or social pension, as well as increased support of the payment program for over 164 thousand people with disabilities and their caregivers.
For the first time, the budget includes tailored support for unemployed women with 3 or more children up to 18 years of age, with a family income of up to 100 thousand lek per month, supporting them with the payment of social and health contributions, for the period of child care up to 5 years old.
Also, the financing of the Baby Subsidy Program for each newborn continues, guaranteeing the financial bonus from ALL 40,000-120,000, for over 35,000 children/year.
