TIRANA, Sept 16 /ATA/ – The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku affirmed Friday that an 800 Kilowatt-hour (Kwh) limit per month will become effective as of October 1 for families who want to avoid paying a higher rate for electricity as part of the energy saving measures announced by the government last week.
Balluku said that families and businesses consuming over 800 Kilowatt-hour will pay a higher price rate for the electricity.
The Deputy PM also said that the government will ask the Energy Regulator to remain the electricity price over 800 KwH limit unchanged until the end of year and a new rate may be imposed depending on the situation.
According to her, the new electricity price that will be approved by the Energy Regulator could be lower, but it also may decide to remove the consumption limit depending on the domestic electricity production, as well as the electricity price in the international markets.
