Peleshi: Cyber attacks have not affected military systems

TIRANA, September 14 /ATA/ Minister of the Interior Niko Peleshi confirmed today that the cyber attacks have not affected the military systems.

During a briefing after the government meeting, Peleshi said that, “After the Russian aggression in Ukraine, we need to invest even more and strengthen security and defense, and finally cyber defense”.

“We are under attack and we are facing serious attacks. The good news is that all our main allies, the US and NATO, of which we are a part, are with us on this new front for the time being, but which will be one of our challenges for a long time. Our military cyber systems have not been affected. They are more than protected, as they are more specific, more dedicated and disconnected from other systems, as they are autonomous. This makes them more protected”, said Peleshi.

The minister emphasized that the government is working to raise to an even higher level cyber security in the Armed Forces and defense and security systems in the country.

“We are implementing a very large project worth 24 million dollars supported by the US that aims to establish the Military Cyber Security Center, training the staff, military and civilian personnel working there”, he said.

Peleshi added that, a few weeks ago, the government approved a draft decision that gave additional bonuses to all employees in the cyber security unit./r.e/p.s./
