Natural gas explorations restart in Delvina field

TIRANA, Sept 3 /ATA/ – With the oil and gas prices soaring in the international markets, operators in Albania are increasingly refocusing on exploration and drilling operations in various oil and gas fields across the country.

Albpetrol’s chief executive officer (CEO) Klejdi Cenmurati met Saturday with the Delvina Gas Company Ltd senior officials to discuss progress of the company’s ongoing drilling operations and further development perspectives of Delvina gas block.

Cenmurati said that a series of infrastructure investments have been implemented in Delvina block, surface equipment, underground works and the drilling of the “Del-12” well, and good results are expected for the natural gas and condensate production.

Delvina Gas Company is a leading independent natural gas producer operating in Albania.

Delvina Block covers an area of 234 sq.km and contains a gas-condensate field. Exploration in Delvina Block started in early 70’s with the first gas-condensate discovery in late 80’s.

The onshore ‘Delvina Field’ lies in southern Albania, near Delvina town. The field is discovered by DPNG (former AlbPetrol) in mid-80’s and has produced intermittently up to 2012, when the field became idle, due to lack of investments and lack of marketing options for the natural gas.
