Balla: Political agreement in EU, first intergovernmental conference is due next week

TIRANA, June  30 /ATA/By Maela Marini/ The chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, stated on Thursday in plenary session that “a political agreement has already been reached between the parties and the first Intergovernmental Conference will be held as early as next week.”

“I asked for the floor to share an important news regarding our pathway to EU integration.

There is a full agreement between the 27 EU member states to hold the first Intergovernmental Conference between Albania and the EU next week. It is an important moment, after several- hour communications with the member parliaments. The Czech ambassador, with whom I had the opportunity to communicate, has just left. “Political agreement has already been reached and  the Intergovernmental Conference will be held next week,” said Balla.

According to him, “holding the first Intergovernmental Conference is the culmination of the successive gains of many governments, but the main credit for this goes to the government in place which has delivered on all the requirements.”

“The requirements are far from over, it is a lengthy process, but now Albania will negotiate to join the EU. Next week is a solemn week for the responsibility that each of us has to work on the very important tasks related to this process. ”
