TIRANA, June 25 /ATA/ – In the course of his visit to Austria, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was invited along with the Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer to attend the Wachau European Forum with motto of this year’s event being “Safeguarding Europe’s future and EU Enlargement.”
Commenting on Bulgaria’s veto of launching the EU accession negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia, PM Rama stated that Bulgaria is just the ultimate extreme expression of the crooked spirit of the EU enlargement.
“The Bulgarian parliament adopted something a day ago and I very much hope that the yesterday’s vote will be sufficient four our North Macedonia friends. However, I would like to underline that this hasn’t to do with Bulgaria only. Bulgaria is merely the ultimate extreme expression of the crooked spirit of the EU enlargement,” Rama said.
“We all hear that Vladimir Putin is sick. It may be true, it may be not true, but, on the other hand, it doesn’t look that the EU is quite healthy,” he said.
“I heard one of the French friends here reiterating that Vladimir Putin has done the reverse of what he is looking for by uniting Europe, by uniting NATO and by doing all these things we already know since day one. However, it is still too early to call, I would say, because it doesn’t look that the next winter will be an easy one and we shouldn’t take this unification for granted,” he noted.
“What happened with Bulgaria is a symbol of how enlargement has turned into a means to take other countries hostage,” PM Rama stated.
