Albania, 4th country in CEFTA to validate its national AEP program

TIRANA, June 21 /ATA/ The Customs Administration of Albania successfully completed the procedure for the regional recognition of the program of Authorized Economic Operators (EEA) in CEFTA, the Central European Free Trade Agreement.

The program provides economic operators with an internationally recognized “special quality / status certificate” that demonstrates their commitment to security in the international supply chain, as well as entitles them to preferential customs treatment.

The CEFTA assessment team, under the supervision of DG TAXUD of the European Union, at the end of the several-day assessment in Tirana, concluded that the Albanian Customs program for Authorized Economic Operators has met all criteria, according to the standards of the CEFTA Protocol.

Albania is the fourth country in CEFTA to validate its national AEO program and the mutual recognition between the AEO programs in the region, means that the Albanian AEOs, in addition to the benefits offered by their customs administration will also have more benefits in CEFTA countries, such for border crossing with precedence, fewer controls, avoidance of verifications.

Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia already have bilateral agreements on mutual recognition of the AEO in the framework of the Open Balkan initiative and the same text of the agreement has been negotiated at the technical level with Kosovo.

The AEO certificate enables immediate access to all customs points, for all companies that export in any field, such as toll manufacturing, agro-industry, agriculture, which need to move beyond a country that may be the nearest country , but also in other countries within the EU where this agreement is recognized.
