TIRANA, April 21 /ATA/ The chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Enkelejd Alibeaj, said on Thursday in parliament that, thanks to the 2008 agreement between the DP and the SP, the majority can elect the new president of the country.
Replying to the Prime Minister Edi Rama in parliament, Alibeaj said that, “you will elect the president, you can do it yourself. Why do you waste time putting names in envelopes ? It is shameful and hilarious. Whom are you making a fool of, of the Albanians? Are you asking? You pretend that you are consulting civil society. You used any means in the battle a year ago, counting on patronage volunteers, organized crime and the whole state. “And you come here to show that you will now elect the president, the neutral power.”
But, Alibeaj added, “we have the obligation to thwart all this farce with envelopes. We are not fighting a battle to choose the name, you have to understand this. Our battle is to speak before the Albanians about the requirements and the profile they suggest for a non-partisan president who will stand by moral values and will not become a puppet of anyone. Can you do that?
No, you cannot. You should do first what I told you. Give solutions to State Department, which has not recognized the elections, the numbers you have here,” Alibeaj said.
