TIRANA, April 8 /ATA/ Flamingos have returned to their favourite habitat in the lagoon of Kune Vain of Lezha.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro posted a photo of the flamingos in the lagoon.

“Here’s a flamingo spectacle in Kune Vain”, said Minister Kumbaro.

Kune Vaini Lagoon is located about 8 kilometres away from the city of Lezha and very close to that of Shengjin. The coastal lagoon consists of marine environment, wetland, forests, bushes and meadows, which intertwine beautifully between them.

The lagoon is distinguished for the great diversity of the living world with about 227 species of plants, 17 species of molluscs, 10 species of amphibians, 24 species of reptiles, some species of fish such as mullet, sea bass and eel. Particularly rich is the world of birds (196 migratory and permanent species), described as “Mediterranean ornithology”, 23 species of mammals: rabbit, fox, wolf, wild boar, etc.

Now even the flamingos enriched it with the water show. Kune Vaini Lagoon in Tale of Lezha is the first protected area in the country, declared as such almost 8 decades ago./p.s./
