TIRANA, Feb 23 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ The Ambassador of Ukraine to Albania, Volodymyr Shkurov, stated on Saturday that all Ukrainians stand united to defend their homeland without compromise.
At a news briefing in Tirana, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Albania, Vladimir Shkurov, said that “people are heading to garrisons to take up arms, some of them have bought them, many are preparing Molotov cocktails, so many people have volunteered to donate blood. Meanwhile underground shelters are being set up. “Today, everyone from the youngest to the elderly have stepped forward to defend Ukraine.”
“The support for Ukraine all over the world is unprecedented. You are witness to all this. All the peoples of the world are uniting in support of Ukraine and to condemn the aggression. Italy, France and Cyprus, which until yesterday were against cutting off Russia from the SWIFT payment system, have just confirmed to our president they back this move. Our Foreign Minister called on world governments to take all the measures to isolate Russia as an aggressor and occupier state. To date, February 26, 198 Ukrainian civilians have lost their lives due to the Russian aggression, among them 3 children. 1115 people were injured, among them 33 children. The Russians lost 14 planes, 8 helicopters, 102 tanks; 3500 soldiers have been killed, 200 were taken hostage,” he said.
“I appeal to Russian society and Russian diplomats to condemn the war and the attack on Ukraine. The Ukrainian army is equipped with weapons, but there is a need for additional assistance, both in arms and in financial and humanitarian aspect. A center for humanitarian aid has been set up at the Embassy, for which you can check out our website. “Anyone who has previously contacted the Embassy to provide humanitarian aid can do it now,” he said. /j.p/sm/
