TIRANA, February 5/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that Albania’s stance towards the Russia-Ukraine conflict is crystal clear, known, unwavering.
Responding to the journalists’ interest in Albania’s stance towards the Russia-Ukraine conflict, PM Rama said at the press conference that, “From my point of view, the way to address this growing tension in this conflict, which is a source of tension, is the way of negotiations. It’s the way to find all the possible, imaginable reasons to talk and patiently look for common ground, even though they are seemingly extremely difficult to find.”
“I believe that every Albanian who follows with some interest Albania’s progress in the international arena, today should feel good and appreciated, part of that community of values not only in terms of ranking within that community, but in terms of opportunity that is given to us to make an extra contribution and for the fact that we are known for the ability to make an extra contribution. This is neither a casual nor a formal pairing between the US and Albania in the Security Council”, said Rama.
The head of government said that, “It is a strategic and very significant pairing for our relations. We are not in the field of social musts. It is about creating a duo that will engage the Security Council on this topic, but not only. We shall have the opportunity in these two years to play a role, taking advantage of the great weight that this other partner, the USA, gives to this couple.”
Regarding Russia’s letter to NATO and OSCE member states, PM Rama said that, “Tell me another government that has dealt with that letter because that letter is not addressed to Albania, that letter is addressed to all member states of NATO and the OSCE. No government has dealt with that letter publicly, they have received that letter they are reading while our stance is publicly clear and fair, I believe”.
“We have no problem in bilateral relations with Russia. Russia is not an enemy country of Albania, but we have a very clear division on this point and all the noise about the letter is part of a folklore noise in the village of the Democratic Party and has nothing to do with us, the government, international relations, with Ukraine, with Russia. It is a noise inside that village between the idiots who have taken hostage the good and reasonable democrat citizens”, said Rama./k.s/j.p/p.s./
