BoA keeps base interest rate for lek unchanged

TIRANA, Feb 2 /ATA/ The Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania deems that the current monetary policy stance is adequate in supporting the country’s economic activity, so it decided today to keep unchanged the base interest rate for the lek, at 0.5%.

The Governor of the BoA, Gent Sejko, told a press conference today that the interest rates on overnight deposits and loans also remain unchanged, at 0.1% and 0.9%, respectively.

“Monetary policy will continue to be accommodative throughout the outlook horizon,” said Sejko, noting that the Supervisory Council deems that the balance of risks continues in the downward direction.
