Rama: Ecopark in Durrës to open its doors soon

TIRANA, Jan 29 /ATA/ In Porto Romano, the work for transformation of Durres’ half-century dumping ground is nearing completion. The Ecopark that is taking the place of the garbage dump, will be an attraction, not only for the citizens of Durrës.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has published on Saturday images from the construction site of this Ecopark, which is already taking shape to be accessible for all age groups.

“Do you remember Dante’s dumping ground in Durrës, which was portrayed as the disgrace of Albania in the world media?” “Soon, the site where the garbage were burned in the sunlight and moonlight, where flocks of pigs and sows scavenged on that against the backdrop of smoke and fires, will be buzzing with cheerful parents and children, girls and boys, who will enjoy the attractions of Durrës Ecopark,” Rama says.

The Ecopark will not only have a pedestrian area, but will also offer a range of facilities and services for all age groups, from sports fields to recreational facilities.

Other than the Ecopark, a new industrial zone and a new 110 megawatt Photovoltaic Park will be built in this area, with the aim of turning it into an engine of economy not only for Durrës.
