TIRANA, January 17/ATA/ The Bank of Albania issued two new and improved Albanian banknotes.
The new series of Lek banknotes consists of two denominations: 500 and 2000 Lekë.
The theme of the existing series has been retained, but the new series of banknotes has been given a fresh look. Both banknotes retain the same motifs carried in the respective existing denominations. They reflect changes related to the overall configuration of the added and improved elements of banknote design and security.
With these two banknotes, the Bank of Albania completes the issuance of the new series of banknotes, which consists of 6 denominations: 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 Lekë. New banknotes are used as means of payment, along with existing banknotes of all denominations.
The Bank of Albania reminds that our currency is neither old nor new, but it is simply Lek. The value of the Lek should be read as written on the banknote./j.p/p.s./
