EU integration, Balla welcomes commitment of new ruling coalition in Germany

TIRANA, Nov. 24/ATA/ The chairman of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, welcomed the commitment of the three parties of the ruling coalition in Germany regarding the EU membership process of the 6 countries of the Western Balkan.

“While the new German government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz is on the right track, I would like to welcome the commitment of the three parties in the ruling coalition regarding the EU integration process of Albania, Kosovo and other Western Balkan countries,” Balla said.

The Social Democrats, the Greens and the Liberals involved in the agreement are committed to supporting the EU membership process of the six countries of the Western Balkan region as well as the necessary reforms required to meet the Copenhagen criteria.

“In this context we will strengthen civil society and support further steps for EU membership. Also, the first chapters of the EU-Albania and North Macedonia Accession Agreement should be opened, visa liberalization with Kosovo should be approved and the negotiations with Montenegro and Serbia to further move forward. We support the EU-led dialogue on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the efforts for a lasting peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on preserving territorial integrity and overcoming ethnic divisions,” according to the agreement reached by the ruling coalition between Social Democrats (SPD), Greens and Liberals (FDP).  //a.i/
