TIRANA, Oct 25 /ATA/ The manager of OSHEE (Power Distribution Operator), Ardian Çela, said on Monday that there is no project to increase the electricity price.
In his remarks at the meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee, Çela stressed that “for 1 million subscribers supplied by OSHEE, there will be no price increase.”
He said that “on January 1 OSHEE has applied to the Energy Regulatory Entity, the institution that approves tariffs. It has not applied for any tariff increase in terms of end customers who are connected to below 04 KW line.”
“The rest is subject to a reform that has started since the adoption of the energy law in March 2015, which provides for a gradual market liberalization, which started more than 10 years ago with subscribers connected to the 110 KW line to follow through with 97 entities in 2018 connected to the 35 KW line and on January 1 all the rest connected to the medium voltage that will be supplied in the free market as part of the project with WB, while the platform between Transmission System Operator and Energy Distribution Operator (OSHEE) has been completed for this market, ” said Çela.
Çela reiterated that there will be no price increase for 1 million subscribers supplied by OSHEE.
Regarding the quality of service, he said that the level of breakdowns has decreased significantly, as well as complaints, adding that the Albanian energy sector needs new investments.
Çela said that the pandemic period had a direct bearing on the energy sector in several ways: such as affecting 50% of employees, reducing the level of controls, the inability to make real-time readings that affect energy balances and disruption of investments, because even subcontractors interrupted the investments.
