TIRANA, Oct 23 /ATA/ Parliament Speaker, Lindita Nikolla, met on Saturday with the Speaker of the Austrian Parliament, Wolfgang Sobotka, to whom she expressed gratitude for the strong support of Austria for the opening of negotiations.
The meeting was held in Athens on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Conference of the Council of Europe.
The meeting touched on continuation and expansion of excellent cooperation between the two parliaments as well as the contribution of parliamentary diplomacy to promoting comprehensive cooperation.
Parliament Speaker Nikolla and President Sobotka expressed the will of the Albanian Parliament and the Austrian Parliament to deepen cooperation in promoting parliamentary contribution to the consolidation of democratic institutions, youth’s political participation, modernization of parliamentary services and other aspects.
Nikolla thanked President Sobotka for contribution and support of Austria in the process of opening the accession negotiations.
Sobotka expressed the commitment that the Government and Parliament of Austria, as well as him personally, will continue to support the European journey of Albania and the Western Balkans as well as the holding of the first EU-Albania Intergovernmental Roundtable within 2021.
