TIRANA, Oct 20 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, announced on Wednesday after the meeting of the Council of Ministers the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Directorate at the Ministry of Justice.
Manja said that the government adopted the decision on the organization and functioning of the network of anti-corruption coordinators in the Republic of Albania.
“Today’s decision is one of the most important regulatory and institutional steps that the government has taken so far in uncompromising fight against corruption in public administration. As the national coordinator for anti-corruption, I see today’s decision as the government’s full support and as an expression of political will to combat corruption in public administration, to have an efficient public administration, with high integrity in the service of citizens. It is an expression of the will of the government and this program in the next four years to strengthen the rule of law and have a strong Albania,” he said.
Subsequently, the Minister of Justice, Manja emphasized that ” today’s decision adds a new dimension to the Ministry of Justice through the creation of a General Directorate for Anti-Corruption”.
“All anti-corruption agencies that have operated so far at the office of the Prime Minister will be centralized in the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption at the Ministry of Justice. There was a network of anti-corruption coordinators in the Ministry of Justice that encompassed 17 state institutions, but pursuant to this decision this network of coordinators will encompass 47 state institutions that provide public services to citizens. These 47 state institutions will be part of a network of over 70 professionals who will handle corruption cases in the public administration and will cooperate and coordinate the work with other law enforcement agencies and here I have in mind the Prosecution, but also SPAK, ” Manja said.
Manja said that this directorate against corruption will work in three main directions.
“At the core of its work will be the fight against corruption in public administration, a clean and efficient public administration with high integrity in the service of citizens. This is the vision of the Rama 3 government for these four years, ” said Manja.
