TIRANA, Sept 18 /ATA/ – Hundreds of citizens and volunteers, backed by the municipal workers in 27 administrative units in Albanian capital, joined an environmental clean-up event in Tirana on the World Clean-up Day on Saturday.
The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj and local residents in the capital’s administrative unit No. 13 took part in this event.
Mayor Veliaj said in his remarks that the clean-up campaign helps to raise public awareness of all spheres of society to participate in clean-up actions to keep the city clean and it is important that the citizens respect their surrounding space by not throwing garbage on the ground, but into the trash cans.
“It is better for everyone to care about keeping the community and the city clean than involving in clean-up actions,” Mayor Veliaj said, inviting all Tirana citizens to join the cleaning campaign.
