TIRANA Sept 1 /ATA/ -By I.Vata/ The General Director of the State Police, Ardi Veliu, said on Wednesday from Madrid, where the results of the joint mega-operation dubbed “Dobra” were presented, that the operation is finalized after almost 1 year of investigative work.
“Even the Albanian police as an integral part of this operation, have been involved from the very beginning contributing to the exchange of information about all suspected Albanian citizens involved and identified, helping the Spanish colleagues to conduct in-depth investigations, as well as with concrete actions through to finalization of the operation. This further proof of the Albanian Police’ maturity and professionalism. The State Police are a reliable partner of all law enforcement agencies taking part in operations to crack down on organized crime in all countries and where there are Albanian citizens involved, ” he said.
Also, Veliu added that “we will not stop the investigation at this stage, but we will continue in our country by investigating all assets which may have derived from this criminal activity for all citizens involved.”
“By hitting economic benefits, we dismantle the criminal syndicates,” he said.
Veliu concluded that although this is the first operation with Spanish police, we hope that our cooperation will continue as part of the joint operations,” he said.
The “Dobra” mega-operation dismantled a criminal ring operating in narcotics trafficking, which resulted in the arrest of 107 suspects.
