Spike in COVID-19 cases, Najada Çomo requests resignation as MP

TIRANA, Aug 25 /ATA/ Najada Çomo, the head of the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tirana, elected the Socialist Party MP in the April 25 parliamentary elections, has asked Prime Minister Edi Rama to accept her resignation as the newly elected MP.

The news was shared by PM Rama during his closing remarks on completion of the second term of office.

“I am genuinely moved by the communication with Najada Çomo, who epitomized the resistance of doctors and nurses in the front line. She recently asked me to accept her withdrawal from the new role of the Member of the Albanian Parliament, feeling the strong obligation not to leave her amazing team as soon as the Delta variant started to fill up the intensive care unit,” Rama said.

Prime Minister Rama said that “I thank Najada publicly just as I thanked her in person for this meaningful example of her sense of duty towards those more in need than anyone else. A very big thank- you with humility and with all my heart to all those who have helped us steer through the difficult times of battling with the invisible enemy with our head high. ”
