This govt. delivered on requirements for accession negotiations, started a new chapter with “Open Balkans”

TIRANA Aug 25 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Wednesday that this government closes its second term of office with the fulfillment of all requirements for the opening of EU accession negotiations.

Prime Minister Edi Rama in his closing speech on completion of the second term of office praised the work in the field of defense and foreign affairs of Albania.

“I believe that we are all proud of what has been done in the field of defense and foreign affairs during this term. The international reputation of the country, credibility and respect for us by our allies and partners, the involvement of the Diaspora like never before in the relations with the government, the weight of Albania in the relations with every international institution today, the image per se of our country do not compare with 2013, ” he said.

Also, Prime Minister Rama stressed that “this government closed its mandate with the fulfillment of all conditions for the start of accession negotiations with the EU and the opening of a new chapter in our regional policy, as one of the initiators of the” Open Balkans, “, which is nothing but the Berlin process with a new momentum and a new responsibility, without waiting for 8 other years to pass for adopting the experience of the four freedoms of the European Union, the freedom of movement, goods, services and capita, without waiting for international partners to be remembered at every step of the way.”

“The polemics on the Open Balkans and the outrageous accusations against this government and me in person, be them from Pristina or Tirana, do not worry me at all and should not worry us as a ruling party in the third term. There is a lot of smoke and fire burning for the purposes of the current politics, but the new government will move forward in this direction as well without missing a single day. “Meanwhile, I am confident that with the government of Kosovo we will do a lot of good work in the common interest, despite the disagreement with Kosovo counterparts over the Open Balkans,” he said.
