TIRANA, Aug 9 /ATA/ The ground and air fire-fighting operations have prevented the raging fire from spreading through National Llogara Park, yet work is underway to bring the situation under control.
Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, says that the forces have been deployed in the area of the Kalimash tunnel, where strong winds have fuelled the fire, which is spreading towards the village of Shëmri, while at the place called Qafa e Kumbullës the flames have been contained.
“The fire situation has eased off in more than half of the area engulfed by the flames in the area of Krushova in Voskopoja. Work is underway to put out a blaze in Qafë Tërkuzi, in the part of Montenegro, close to our border,” Peleshi said in an update on the situation this afternoon.
Same sources say that some blazes continue to rage despite the efforts of operational forces countrywide.
“The fire situation in the National Park of Llogara has eased off, yet the operation is ongoing to bring the fires under control. The troops have deployed in the area of Kalimash tunnel, where due to strong wind and relief the fire has spread towards the village of Shëmri, while at the place called Qafa e Kumbullës the fire has been contained. In the village of Trull, the fire situation is under control. The crews of fire service will be assisted by Kosovo forces,” according to the update.
