TIRANA, August 5 /ATA/ Mayor of Selenica Pëllumb Binaj spoke in a television interview today on the situation of fires in this municipality and stressed that, “Thanks to the immediate intervention, there is no damage to people and residential houses.”
“Today for us and the municipality of Selenica, it has been one of the most difficult days of this period that I am the mayor because an irresponsible man has caused the villages of Gjormë and Gumenicë and beyond to catch fire. I want to say from the beginning that there is no damage to people and dwellings, thanks to the immediate intervention of the Municipality and the Ministry of Defense, including firefighters and air vehicles that worked nonstop every day. Today, we are happy that there are no victims,” he said.
Binaj said that, “There are damaged 3 uninhabitable dwellings, 600 olive roots and some beehives in the village of Gjormë”.
“The problem is that as soon as the flames go out, they are reactivated by strong winds. There have been two helicopters today that have operated. We call for awareness of everyone. These people who set fire do not think about their families. In 2 cases in Sevaster and Lapardha, thanks to the residents, 2 dangerous fires were extinguished.
