TIRANA, July 12 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ Work continues apace on the construction of the Tapiza Bridge, part of the national road Tirana-Shkodra with 48% of the works completed so far.
The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who stressed that “the project that will be completed within the year will guarantee safe transport for passengers on this axis.”
Tapiza Bridge is located on the road segment Tirana-Shkodra, about 30 km away from Tirana. This infrastructural work becomes more important as it connects the capital with the north of the country, and the traffic flow on this road is quite high.
The nearly 50-year-old bridge collapsed as it was structurally deficient.
The new bridge is set to expand significantly compared to the old one. It will be 120 meters long, with 3 light spaces 40 meters each, 13.2 meters wide. It will also include a two-lane carriageway 3.75 m each, the asphalt strip and sidewalk for pedestrian crossing, 1.35 m.
