Bylykbashi: Current electoral system to be radically changed

TIRANA, July 8/ATA/ The MP of the Democratic Party, Oerd Bylykbashi stated on Thursday that, the current electoral system must be radically changed.

In a televised interview, Bylykbashi said that, several important elements of Electoral Reform need to be reconceptualized.

“The next electoral reform will not mainly focus on the Electoral Code, because as ODIHR and the Venice Commission said Electoral Code is a good basis for elections. The way how public funds are managed can pose a problem, how public administration is recruited, how tenders are used.

The focus of an electoral reform is how we are going to set up a sanitary perimeter, an immunity. How can we immunize the electoral process against the illegal entry of the militant state, and this is a big challenge. Secondly, following the decision of the Constitutional Court, the electoral system has become unusable.

“I do not think we need to repair a specific article, but this electoral system needs to be radically changed because it has already become toxic,” Bylykbashi said. //a.i/
