Bregu: Prolongation of accession process damages credibility

TIRANA, June 24 /ATA/Regional Cooperation Council Secretary General , Majlinda Bregu, stated on Thursday that prolongation of accession process damages the credibility.

At a media briefing after the launch of the Balkan Barometer 2021, asked about the fact that the date for the First Intergovernmental Conference with Albania and North Macedonia has not been set yet, Bregu said that “the longer the process lasts, the more its credibility is at risk.”

“Prolongation is not in the interests of EU and of the Western Balkans,” Bregu said.

“It is not fair for North Macedonia either and no way will it be for Albania. It is not fair for Kosovo people not to move without visas, even though it is a promise made for years on end. We are not talking about the rule of law, we are talking about a decision-making, which becomes even more difficult due to the fact that in the EU it should be based on consensus,” said Bregu.
