CEC: Convicts did not vote Minister of Justice

TIRANA, April 30 /ATA/ Minister of Justice, Etilda Gjonaj, has received only 1 vote from convicts in April 25 general elections.

According to the CEC, in the tenth parliamentary elections since 1991 in Albania, Minister Gjonaj is the only minister who did not receive “support” from the convicts. Being at the helm of the Ministry of Justice was of no avail which is further proof of her “zero” influence on convicts in this election.

CEC states that “out of six correctional institutions, prisons, in the region of Tirana, Gjonaj received only 1 vote from the convicts in Rrogozhina.”

In penitentiary institutions at “Mine Peza” street and “313,” Minister Gjonaj received no vote, even from convicts under “41 Biss” regime.

Whereas, at “Ali Demi” in Tirana, Gjonaj received the votes of 19 female convicts from 19 ballots for the Socialist Party as a preferential vote.

The CEC states that “out of more than 4,900 convicts and detainees, almost half were included in categories eligible to vote due to restrictions under the decriminalization law.”
