TIRANA, April 30 /ATA/ – Work is being pushed forward to make sure construction of eastern section of Tirana Big Ring Road project completes and opens to traffic by end of August.
The Minister of Infrastructure Belinda Balluku inspected the ongoing work on this project.
“Today we are inspecting the Eastern Ring Road, where construction work is progressing well. Work is currently underway on the second section of the project, focusing on the beam bridge installation and the 210-meter viaduct, the tunnel shaft concrete pouring and construction of piled embankments with concrete slabs,” Balluku said.
According to her, the ring road will open to all vehicles accessing Tirana from all sides, including the new Arber Road and the Tirana-Elbasan highway. The ring road will help to significantly reduce traffic congestion.
“The section we are inspecting today was the most complex one in terms of construction work, because of the soil’s geological features, mainly composed of clay layers,” she said.
“The project is scheduled to complete by end of August 2021 and we expect it to complete by then given the current pace of construction work and the solutions that have been already provided,” Balluku said.
