TIRANA, April 30 /ATA/ – The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku on Friday flatly rejected the vote-buying allegations levelled by the Democratic Party’s Secretary General Gazment Bardhi earlier today.
Balluku, who has won a set in the next parliament after the Sunday’s general elections, said in an interview for Euronews Albania TV that the DP claims are totally unfounded and not based on facts and evidence.
Infrastructure Minister said that the alleged text messages and phone conversations revealed by DP show the ongoing work to deliver on the legalization and the post-earthquake reconstruction process in the Kombinat neighbourhood, one of the worst-hit areas by the November 2019 earthquake, and the communications suggest not a single sentence to support vote-buying claims.
“For over two years and a half, I personally provide care and services to citizens. And caring about citizens and taking measurements in the Kombinat area, one of the worst-hit areas by earthquake, where the legalization process has been suspended, because of the reconstruction programme, mean that you care about people,” she said.
According to Balluku, “the opposition’s allegations represent desperate attempts of the DP because of its current situation after the election defeat last weekend and because a group of DP supporters and officials are calling on Lulzim Basha to step down as party leader.”
“We work to address the citizens’ plight and problems and we do so not by paying money or by killing people at the city’s centre and not by doing what DP and its allies do,” Balluku said.
