TIRANA, April 27 /ATA/ IPARD subsidies and programs have supported the fish processing industry, increasing the funding values for this sector up to 30 million Lek for a business.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announces that in the meantime the exports of fish and seafood are the group with the highest value of sales abroad.
According to statistics, the two groups “Fish and shellfish” and “Foods prepared from meat, fish and mollusks” reached a total value of 13 billion in 2020, with an annual increase of 12%.
The increase in exports in this segment came after the expansion of investments, thanks to the support programs addressed by the government to finance the fish industry.
Investments combined with the growing demand of the foreign market, have led to a significant increase in fish exports in recent years.
In the framework of the trade agreement with the EU, the Albanian fish processing industry can export to Europe about 1600 tons of processed fish, canned anchovies. /j.p/r.e/p.s./
