PM Rama: Ready for broad post-election cooperation with opposition

TIRANA, April 20 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama reiterated his readiness to reach out to the opposition and for a post-election cooperation as the country needs a more civilized and cooperative political establishment to move to a whole new level.

“Such an invitation cannot be extended by a loser, but by the winner of the elections. I strongly believe Albania needs to move to a whole new level and I will adapt a post-election unifying approach by also reflecting on what I haven’t done enough to cherish a cooperation spirit,” PM Edi Rama said in a TV interview, commenting on the invitation he has extended to the main opposition Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha.

The government head said that the Socialist Party has switched on all engines in the last two weeks of the electoral campaign.

Rama said “Basha is not the leader of the party boasting it is the party that would bring about the change and the head of a large coalition.”

“Indeed, he is the head of a coalition of all useless figures of the Albanian politics and Basha has been handpicked by Sali Berisha to serve there and he is totally under control of Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta. However, we can’t elect or appoint the opposition,” PM Rama said.

“I am ready to explore ways about a broad cooperation with the opposition that overcomes the politics over these years. Albania has huge potential and opportunities and politics should serve them,” he said.
