Çuçi: 4500 police officers inoculated so far in the country

TIRANA, April 6 /ATA/ Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi, was in Gjirokastra to see first-hand the vaccination of State Police employees, which is being conducted throughout the country.

At a media briefing, he highlighted the importance of this moment for all police officers, who have been on duty during the period of lockdown imposed to stem the spread of pandemic till the enforcement of restrictions yet in place. Minister Çuçi availed himself of the opportunity to express his condolences to the families of 29 police officers who lost their lives to Covid-19.

“Finally we are taking this much-expected step to protect the lives of those who have been in the line of duty throughout the pandemic, especially in the first wave to ensure compliance with the lockdown rules but also later with other restrictive measures in place. I am very pleased that vaccination is going well here. There were neither refusals of uptake nor serious side effects. I believe that within two days the entire police force in Gjirokastra will be vaccinated. Across the country this process is going quite well. About 4,500 police officers have been vaccinated so far. Very soon the vaccination of police force will be completed.”

Vaccination of State Police employees countrywide is expected to be completed in a few days. The process started 3 days ago in the biggest centralized center at the “Air Albania” stadium. Other centers have been set up throughout the country so that the process is running at fast rates and in line with all standards.
