TIRANA, April 1 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama told a political talk show on Thursday evening that fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-earthquake reconstruction programme are the country’s top priorities now,
“The opposition Democratic Party has proposed the same election program it has proposed the Albanian voters in 2017, 2013 and 2009 general election. The opposition pledges to cut the social insurance contributions and increase pensions in order to fool those who pay social contributions and the retired people. This is a paradox,” PM Rama said.
According to the Premier, the post-earthquake reconstruction and the fight against the invisible enemy are the two main challenges facing Albania
The Premier noted that the ruling Socialist Party has a clear action plan for the period between 2021 and 2025, which is actually the Socialists’ vision for 2030 and that his party knows quite well what to do.
“We don’t pledge to cut taxes on business, as we have already scrapped the profit tax and VAT on small business. What we are proposing is that small business will pay zero taxes until 2029. This is not a promise, but a calculation. We are confirming that the income tax on salaries up to 40,000 lek will be scraped on January 1, 2022. We are saying that the minimum wage will increase further. This is not an electoral promise, but a calculation and the minimum wage will range between 38,000 to 40,000 lek during third term in our office,” the Premier said.
