TIRANA, February 11/ATA/- The Albania’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Milva Ekonomi stated on Thursday that although there has been a much higher amount of rainfall than in other years, thanks to investments made in drainage canals, embankments and hydropower, we have much less flooded land.
According to the Minister Ekonomi, despite the heavy rainfall, the situation was successfully managed in the Drini Cascade and today there are no water discharges from the dams.
“The HPP dams on the Drini Cascade are below the critical quota, there are no discharges from the cascade and according to Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment, the rainfall will stop and this will help improve the situation,” Ekonomi said.
In her remarks, Minister Ekonomi touched on the national support schemes being implemented in the agricultural sector worth 139 million euros since 2013 while adding that over 27 thousand farmers have benefited. //a.i/
