Basha tax favors wealthy people/Rama: We are set to review progressive tax on personal incomes

TIRANA, February 2 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that, “We will do a review of progressivity on personal income”.

In the weekly press conference “Economy in Focus”, on the topic – “Reconstruction”, PM Rama said that we are aware of the need to make a review of progressiveness on personal income”.

PM Rama added that, “We do not want the election campaign and elections to be a reason to weaken our character, to weaken exactly what is the basis of our government which is the governing philosophy on the principle that whoever wins the most should pay more and whoever earns less has to pay less”.

Speaking about the Democratic Party program, Rama said that, “I have the impression that it is a waste of time to discuss the DP proposals because it is like the character of the DP leader, weak and without a backbone. But, it is a principled discussion that clearly separates our paths and alternatives”.

“The flat tax is a tax on the rich, to give even more to those who earn more, and to give hell to those who earn less. Today, we are in a situation where our tax, which I call fair taxation and which is considered a progressive tax concept, is clearly a tax that has yielded results both in terms of social morality and in terms of income for individuals and the state,” said Rama./k.s/p.s./
