Christian believers attend Mass on Christmas Eve/ Monsignor Frendo holds the Mass: Family holiday

TIRANA, Dec 24 /ATA/- Catholic and Orthodox believers around the world celebrate today Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.

In St. Paul Cathedral, in the capital, due to Covid restrictions this year fewer believers attended the mass offered by Monsignor George Frendo, who appealed for more peace, love and kindness.

This mass was scheduled to be held at 20:00hrs, but due to new restrictions over the holidays it was moved to 18:00hrs. In the Church, a few faithful were present for the Christmas message, all of them equipped with masks.

In his speech on Christmas Eve, Monsignor George Frendo conveyed the message of family unity, sharing a personal story when he was hospitalized for COVID infection. I shared a room with a 78-year-old man. We became friends, a humble man, who talked a lot about his wife whom he loved immensely, he showed me a picture of her, she was still beautiful although wheelchair-bound, so he had to take care of her, washing and cooking for her. Their story is an example of that love that never fades out. He talked about the children he had raised with a lot of love and sacrifice and in many ways they continue to show love and gratitude to their parents. Christmas is the family holiday. Long live the Christ, long live Jesus and with this joy I wish you a Merry Christmas, ” said Frendo.
