TIRANA, Nov 28 /ATA/ – Albania’s seaports handled 399.000 tonnes of cargo in October, up by 10.4% year-on-year, the country’s National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said on Saturday.
According to INSTAT’s transport statistics, the volume of loading and unloading cargo processed in Albania ports totalled 3.493 million tonnes in the first ten months, down 7.5% compared to the same period of 2019.
INSTAT notes that number of cruise passengers is significantly decreasing due to the restrictions on maritime transport introduced over the coronavirus pandemic.
In October 2020, the number of ferry passengers is 28.581 passengers, down 70.6 % compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the ten months of year 2020, 323,647 passengers travelled by sea, decreasing 77.5 % compared to same period of 2019.
