Over 4 tons of kiwi exported from Albania

TIRANA, Nov 24 /ATA/ Agricultural support schemes have increased the interest of farmers in the cultivation of kiwi, turning it from an exotic fruit 100% imported into Made in Albania exports.

According to data from the export center of Vlora, over 4 tons of kiwi were exported during October this year to countries of the region.

Aid schemes for farmers, coupled with concessional policies that reduce labor costs have yielded clear results.
Kiwi is cultivated in the country, especially in the area of Lushnjë – Fier, in the region of Tirana – Durrës, but also in Vau i Dejës and Pogradec.

Kiwi has also started to be cultivated by farmers in the area of Vlora, while vast areas have been planted with kiwi in the village of Tapi, Kuçova.

According to experts, kiwi produced in Albania is smaller than imported fruit. However, the nutritional values are the same.

The success of kiwi cultivation is attributed to the simplicity of growing and the ability of the fruit to catch no disease and guarantee yield.
Meanwhile the support schemes rolled out by the govt. have also played a crucial role in its cultivation.
